The work of the research network refers to a deliberately broad circle of fields of practice:
- Religious education
- Initial and in-service training for religious education teachers
- Development and academic monitoring of forms of interreligious cooperation between Catholic, Islamic and Protestant educational programmes inside and outside schools
- Dialogue in the field of religious education between the two religions
- Religion-related, socio-pedagogical tasks in various fields of action (elementary education, youth welfare, penal system, etc.)
The research network can relate to the newly established Master's programme on interreligious studies, which is currently being established by the two faculties and the Centre for Islamic Theology, and is intended to provide research-based foundations for this, which can be incorporated into teaching. In addition, study offers should also be introduced in the area of already existing training programmes (teaching profession, pastoral ministry, etc.).
