After your enrollment, you will receive an information e-mail with further information on the start of your studies. For this peupose, please check the inbox for your student e-mail address (name.surname@student.uni-tuebingen.de), which you will receive as part of the enrollment process. 

• Before the start of lecture time there will be a Mathematics Preparatory Course, taking place from 01st October, 2026, to 8th October, 2026. We strongly advise all first-year students to attend this preparatory course, as it will allow you to brush up your math skills and prepare you well for the math content you will be taught in your first semester. Please register here until 27th September, 2026, at latest.  
   

• In addition, we will offer subject-specific introductory events in the week before the lecture time starts, in which you will receive important information on the organization of your studies and the formal framework conditions. We strongly recommend attending this introductory event for your subject because it helps you in organizing your studies and being aware of important regulations and deadlines throghout your studies. The exact dates will be announced soon. 

   

• For first-year Master students in Medical Informatics and Bioinformatics who have a Bachelor's degree in the field of life sciences and will study their Master's program according to variant B, a pre-course “Computer Science for Life Scientists” will be offered from 28th September, 2026, to 2nd October, 2026. Please register here for this course until 18th September. 

• In addition, subject-specific information events for the following subjects will be offered in the week before the lecture time starts. During these events you will receive important information about the structure and the formal rules for your respective subject. We strongly recommend attending these information events. The exact dates will be announced soon.

   

• Apart from the subject-specific information events, we also offer a “Mastercafé” for all first-year students in our master's programs which will also take place in the week before the lecture time starts (likely on Thursday, 8th October, in the afternoon; location: TBA). During the Mastercafé, you will not only be able to exchange with other students over coffee/tea and sweets, but also with lecturers and the persons responsible for your degree program and ask your questions. Further information will follow soon. 

On Friday, 9th October 2026, starting at 4:00 pm, our traditional term opening event for all students at the Department of Computer Science will take place (Location: Cyber-Valley Campus, Maria-von-Linden-Str. 1, ground floor). As part of the term opening you will learn about new developments in the department, and there will also be brief presentations of various courses that are offered in the elective areas as well as opportunities for exchange with other students and the professors afterwards. Please help us in in judging the attendance rate by signing up via ILIAS (course link: will be provided soon). 

The student councils Computer Science (FSI) and Cognitive Science (FSK) organize an informal social program with lots of activities to help you get to know your fellow students, students from higher semesters and the city of Tübingen. Further information can be found on the website of the Student Council Computer Science.

In addition, the university also offers central, interdisciplinary information on the start of studies around the beginning of the lecture period (e.g. introductions to the student administration portal “alma” and information events on the topic of “Studying with disabilities”).
