Quarternary Geochronology

Our group is interested in establishing chronological constraints on various Quaternary changes, including geohazards, tectonic movements, climatic and landscape changes, and evolutionary history in different regions of the world. The dating methods we use are luminescence and electron spin resonance dating, both of which act as geo- and thermo-chronometers by detecting trapped charge in minerals. We also carry out method development studies to improve the dating range and robustness of the methods.

The Quaternary Geochronology group was established in collaboration with the LIAG Institute for Applied Geophysics in Hannover.
