As part of the project ‘Dare to make teaching more innovative!’, Division III – Academic Affairs contributes to the further development of teaching at the University of Tübingen, supporting innovative teaching projects and thus the sustainable testing and implementation of ideas for your everyday teaching practice.
Whether in terms of content or didactics - innovation in teaching is indispensable for the organizational development and profile building of a university. Although teaching staff are usually not short of creative ideas to further develop their teaching practice, everyday teaching often does not provide the flexibility to critically reflect upon one’s teaching practice and to enhance, test and evaluate innovative concepts for teaching and learning, mentoring and new forms of examination.
Innovation is always relative and must be seen in the light of a specific local context. What is considered innovative in one subject area, for example, may already be common practice in another subject area. For this reason, in addition to Innovation Projects and Micro Projects, we are also funding so-called Transfer Projects, which enable the transfer and adaptation of proven concepts of teaching and learning between different subjects. Teaching is subject to constant change at different stages and in all phases of the study programme, for example due to technological progress or an increasingly heterogeneous student body. To support teaching staff, the possibility of flexible funding combined with an uncomplicated and low-threshold application process is of fundamental importance.
