Tetiana Midiana studied German language and literature at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine. In 2004, she received her doctorate in General Rhetoric from the University of Tübingen, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. J. Knape and Assoc. Prof. Dr. T. Bujnyzka. During her doctoral studies, she was already a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In 2011, the Ministry of Education of Ukraine awarded her the academic title of Associate Professor.

From 2005 to 2008, Tetiana Midiana worked as a research assistant and from 2008 to 2026 as an Associate Professor at the Department of German Philology at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where she conducted lectures and seminars in rhetoric, stylistics, and German as a first and second foreign languages. From 2006 to 2013, she served as Secretary General of the Ukrainian Association of Teachers and Germanists (UDGV), where she was actively involved in promoting the German language and German studies in Ukraine. She also served on the editorial board of the academic journal DaFiU. As a rhetoric trainer, she provided training for employees of the Lviv City Administration as part of a project funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). From 2009 to 2014, she also worked as a trainer for jury members in the international Jugend debattiert project of the Goethe-Institut Ukraine.

Since 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tetiana Midiana has been conducting research at the Institute of Rhetoric at the University of Tübingen on the topic of “The Rhetoric of Presidential War Speeches during Russia’s War of Aggression against Ukraine.” The research project was initially funded by the Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and subsequently by the Excellence Strategy of the University of Tübingen. Prior to this, she completed two DAAD-funded research stays at the Institute of Rhetoric, focusing on campaign rhetoric and political video podcasts. From 2024 to 2026, she delivered courses at the Institute of Rhetoric, including advanced seminars on the following topics: “Analysis of Current War Speeches,” “The War Rhetoric of V. Zelenskyy and V. Putin,” and “One War – Two Voices: Ethos and Pathos in the War Speeches of V. Zelenskyy and V. Putin.”

Since October 1, 2026, she has been a DAAD Visiting Lecturer at the Institute of Rhetoric.
