Research Focus: Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment

At the University of Tübingen, several work groups are involved in topics of human evolution and paleoenvironmental research. The combination of different methods advances the understanding of how ecosystems have evolved under changing environmental conditions. This sets the base line for the biological and cultural evolution of hominids and humans.
In cooperation with the Senckenberg - Leibniz Institution for Biodiversity and Earth System Reseach, the "Senckenberg Center for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment (SHEP), Tübingen" was established in 2009. It studies the biological and cultural evolution of humans and apes, as well as with climate and environmental development throughout the Cenozoic.
