Research interests

Chemical contamination caused by human activities has become an environmental problem worldwide, since chemicals reach the water cycle via point sources.

Considering the wide distribution and potential threat of nicosulfuron and azoxystrobin, it is important to evaluate the toxicity of these two pesticides in aquatic wildlife more intensely and especially also with respect to the influence of confounding factors, as e.g. temperature or the pH value on their toxicity.

In my PhD project, I want to determine the temperature- and pH-dependant toxicity of the herbicide nicosulfuron and fungicide azoxystrobin in two freshwater species (Daphnia magna and in early life stages of zebrafish Danio rerio) with the aim to provide realistic effect data which can be used for EQS deviation.
