I'm a lecturer in mathematics and theoretical computer science at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Tübingen, where I lead the Mathematical Structures in Computer Science group. Our research concerns the structural analysis of problems and algorithms in the field of discrete optimization. We are particularly interested in algorithms and complexity of NP-hard problems with a current focus on topics related to phylogenetic networks and from the field of computational social choice - a research area at the interface of AI and social choice theory, combining ideas and methods from logic, game theory, economics, algorithms and complexity.
