Andrea Futterer

Short Biography

Since January 2024 Andrea Futterer is a research associate with a coordinating function in the research project "Infrastructures and Global Ordering" (IGLO). 

She studied political science at the University of Passau (B.A. European Studies) and at the University of Tübingen (M.A. Democracy and Governance in Europe). From 2020 to 2023, she was a research assistant in the BMBF-funded research project "Common public goods. The political organization of infrastructure provision in the regulatory" (project management: Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Bieling and Prof. Dr. Matthias Möhring-Hesse; website: www.infrastruktur-gewaehrleisten.de). In 2023, Andrea Futterer successfully completed her doctorate (supervision: Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Bieling, Prof. Dr. Tanja Klenk (HSU Hamburg)). In her dissertation, she dealt with the obstacles but also opportunities for rural communities in the field of outpatient medical care. 

Andrea Futterer's research interests lie in social security systems, with a focus on healthcare systems, public services of general interest and the provision of public goods, infrastructure policy, in particular social infrastructures and infrastructural organisation, as well as state theory from a post-Weberian perspective.
