Where is the Section Astronomy?

The City of Tübingen offers an online-map of Tübingen. Also the map offered by OpenStreetMap is quite accurate. You can reach our institut via Nordring and Drosselweg. See also the official online-maps of the university and maybe you will find WikiMapia interesting.

Coming from the coach and railway station of Tübingen you can take the bus line 2 (direction "Sand / Waldhäuser Ost") and leave it at the bus stop called "Sand / Drosselweg". Follow the way labeled "Sand 1" and enter the Sand area through the gate (see site plan at the right, click to enlarge). The main entry of our institute is near the center of the large building at the corner to the right.

Hint for wheelchair users: Access with wheelchair is possible from the main entrance at Sand 14. Taking the corridor to the right you will arrive at the central area which also has access to the elevator. As the doors leading to the section Astronomy can be opened from outside with keys only, you should ask coworkers of the institute by telephone to open the door, or ask a companion to open the door from inside.

Coming from Stuttgart airport you either can take a taxi (about 44,- EUR, for special price please contact the secretary of the institute after arrival) or rent a car (about 40 km distance to Tübingen). There is also a direct bus connection from the airport to Tübingen (RBS bus line 828). The time of travel is about 1 hour to bus stop "Pauline-Krone-Heim". From there you may reach the institute by foot within 10 minutes, or you may take bus line 2 from bus stop "Linsenbergstraße" and leave at the next stop "Sand/Drosselweg".

Hint for truck drivers: The clearance height of the western gate is limited to 3,5m! Unlimited access is possible from the east side via Drosselweg.
