The institute researches far right extremism and its social embeddedness. The research results aim at strengthening our democracy in state and civil society. Dialogue and knowledge transfer are central to IRex. We cooperate with organizations and individuals from academia, government and society in all phases of research and outreach.

Background
University Senate founded the Institute for Research on Far Right Extremism at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences by resolution on May 11, 2023. The foundation of the institute is due to a recommendation by the 2nd NSU Committee of Investigation of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg (Landtags-Drucksache 16/5250, p. 1063, No. 25).
