Florian Zarnetta is a research associate at the Centre for International Relations/Peace and Conflict Research (CIRP) at the University of Tübingen since April 2026. He studied political science and public law at the University of Tübingen (Bachelor of Arts) and received his Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the University of Oxford with Distinction. Throughout his studies, he was a Friedrich Ebert Foundation scholar, and during his graduate studies, he additionally held a Blavatnik School of Government Public Service Scholarship and a scholarship from the Ursula and Dr. Thilo Köpfler Foundation. Until December 2025, he worked as a project manager for international labour migration at the Confederation of Skilled Crafts Baden-Württemberg.
Florian Zarnetta’s research focuses on the politics of international law. In his PhD project, he examines the social limits of the structural indeterminacy of international law. Specifically, he studies international society’s response to the conduct of powerful states regarding the prohibition on the use of force. The project follows an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together insights from international relations and international law scholarship.
