Mareike Stürenburg

Research associate

Mareike Stürenburg is a research assistant in the Media and Public Spheres department of Prof. Dr. Annett Heft at the University of Tübingen. She is working towards her doctorate at the Institute for Research on Far Right Extremism.

She focuses on

  • Instrumentalization of gaming communities and platforms by right-wing actors
  • Characteristics and strategies of digital fascism
  • Online communities as spaces for political mobilization and discourse

Current research projects:

COM Community Data Sprint: Onboarding data owners to the AVERA data trust (Com-DS): The aim of the Com-DS project is to anchor the community data trust AVERA more firmly in the research community and make it more visible. AVAERA records actors with links to far-right political online communication and their social media accounts, primarily in Germany.
