Welcome to the Fachschaft!

Welcome to the Fachschaft! The Fachschaft offers you, the students, the opportunity to help shape and improve your studies and teaching. We discuss topics such as the structure of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, the improvement and evaluation of the course offerings, and much more. We also organise the traditional first-year events and the department’s social gatherings.

We’re always here to help if you have any questions about your studies or if there’s something on your mind. You can speak to us directly or simply visit our Fachschaft room, 214, which is located in the passageway leading to the ‘Jüngere Abteilung’ collection. If you have any issues, you’re welcome to raise them at the student council meeting – which is open to everyone – or submit them anonymously in writing by popping a note into our suggestion box on the door our room. You can also just send us an email at fachschaft.ufg@ifu.uni-tuebingen.de! We've also got an instagram account, you can find us as @fachschaft_ufg_amanz_ina :)

You’re also very welcome to become part of our team by simply attending our meetings and helping us shape everyday student life.

Colloquia and talks

An overview of colloquia and talks offered at the institute.

At our institute, a colloquium is a talk in which researchers present their current projects. The colloquia are open to everyone – students, PhD candidates, lecturers, etc. – and provide a forum for engaging with current topics, learning more about the latest developments in archaeology, and, in some cases, contributing to the research yourself by asking questions. Each talk is always followed by a question and discussion session, which is open to all participants in the room and complements the researchers’ own perspectives. It also helps to clarify any points that may have been unclear during the talks. Depending on your interests, there are various colloquia and lectures you can attend. This list serves only as a rough overview: dates and topics are always announced in advance via the mailing lists (Urgeschichte and UFG/Mittelalterarch).

The colloquia always take place during the lecture term; dates are subject to change. All times are c.t.

ART-W: Thursday, 15/10/2026, 1 PM – 6 PM, Castle Hohentübingen, room 119. English.
