Current Projects

Awareness

The AK Prävention, a sub-group of the Fachschaft, is currently working in collaboration with the Institute of Scientific Archaeology and the Institute of Prehistory, Early History and Medieval Archaeology to draw up a Code of Conduct for excavations and everyday university life, as well as a statement on sexual harassment at the university. They are also permanently represented at departmental events in the form of an awareness team.

The AK Prävention is currently looking for active support – please get in touch if you’re interested!

Catering

It is a long-standing tradition for the Fachschaft to provide refreshments at all lectures organised by the societies affiliated with the institute (TÜVA, Mittelalter-Förderverein) in return for small donations.

Communication: teaching

In the past, there have been a few issues with some courses. The Fachschaft seeks to defend students’ interests as quickly and at the earliest opportunity as possible, and to ensure that courses can take place in an appropriate manner.

Planning of the first-semester events 2026

The third-semester bachelor students are currently working on preparing the first-semester week and excursions. Like every year, they are supposed to offer insights into (student) life in Tübingen and archaeology in Baden-Württemberg.

Planning of the "Cafete"

Before Covid, there used to be a student-run cafeteria within the castle, colloquially known as the “Cafete”. The current biggest project of the castle's Fachschaften is to revive this cafeteria as the “Gerhard-Kehrer-Cafete”. This name is meant to honour the former superintendent of the castle, who always put in a lot of effort for us students and whose last wish it was to reenable this dream of a cafeteria. As far as the planning is concerned, the Cafete is set to reopen within the winter semester!

Past Projects

Planning of the IFATA

The IFATA (International Student Representatives’ Conference) took place in Tübingen from 14 May to 17 May 2026. This is the general meeting of the Umbrella Organisation of Archaeological Student Unions (DASV e.V.) and was organised by our Fachschaft, together with the student unions for Classical Archaeology and Egyptology/Near Eastern Archaeology. Over 100 student union members from more than 20 universities across Germany, Austria and Switzerland came together. Specifically, the Executive Board and the Advisory Board of DASV e.V. were elected, and important decisions were taken regarding current and future actions, particularly in light of the impending cuts to archaeological studies at universities.
