Iver B. Neumann is <link http: www.nupi.no en about-nupi employees researchers iver-b.-neumann external-link-new-window external link in new>Research Professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). From 2012 to 2017, he was the Montague Burton Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. One of the most prominent scholars of IR in our time, he is the recipient of the 2017 James Rosenau Award of the International Studies Association.
His research focuses on social theory, historical international relations, Russian and Norwegian Foreign Policy, and diplomacy. He is member of the editorial board of Foreign Affairs Review, Associate Editor of International Studies Quarterly, and Co-Editor of New International Relations Series.


Iver B. Neumann has published extensively on international politics in a wide variety of academic journals. His recent publications include the second edition of Russia and the Idea of Europe: A Study in Identity and International Relations (Routledge, 2017), Undertaking Discourse Analysis for Social Research (with Kevin C. Dunn) (University of Michigan Press, 2016), and Diplomacy and the Making of World Politics (co-ed. with Ole-Jacob Sending and Vincent Pouliot) (Cambridge University Press, 2015).
