Lecture Briefing: Mesial Temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) is the most common form of partial epilepsy in adults and is associated with hippocampal sclerosis (HS) and memory loss. The presence of HS usually predicts refractoriness to medical treatment. Data from both animal model and Clinically refractory MTLE suggest that bone marrow cells play a role in restoring hippocampal structure and function, inducing neurogenesis and modulating the Inflammatory storming, a mechanism that we, in brief, called “Dialogue between Brain and the cellular-immunological Peripheral System”
