Translating the Global South into German

"Translating the Global South into German" is a collaborative project that seeks, using the methodologies and technologies of the digital humanities, to map the progressive creation of a matrix of literary texts which collectively "represent" or "reproduce" the cultures of the Global South within the Germanophone world. The project was initiated by a pilot project mapping the translation of Australian literature in German from 1788 to 2010. It will be extended to include many other parts of the Anglophone world (Africa, Asia, the Pacific, the Caribbean, etc.) as well as the Francophone, Hispanophone and Lusophone zones of the Global South.
