The Hector Institute for Empirical Educational Research (Director: Prof. Dr. Trautwein) is seeking, as part of the scientific support and evaluation of the Hector Children’s Academies,
a Student Assistant (m/f/d)
for approximately 25 hours per month.
The position is available from 1 April 2026 and will initially be offered for six months (until 30 September 2026), with the aim of an ongoing employment and longer-term collaboration.
The team provides scientific support and evaluates the Hector Children’s Academies, an extracur-ricular enrichment program for (highly) gifted primary-school children in Baden-Württemberg. Find-ings from studies conducted in collaboration with the Academies and their partner schools inform the program’s ongoing development.
Our project investigates gifted primary-school students’ challenges in self-regulated learning (SRL) and develops and evaluates SRL-supportive intervention activities linked to Hector Children’s Acad-emy courses. To support this work, we are seeking a motivated student assistant with a background in educational sciences, psychology, or a related field.
Typical Tasks:
• In-person data collection with children
• Create and edit short, research-related animated videos for instructional/study ma-terials (e.g., based on PowerPoint slides; no filming or audio recording required)
• Translate and adapt materials from English into German in a child-friendly, age-appropriate style
• Support updates to the online course on the learning platform Moodle (e.g., updating pages, links, quizzes, and learning materi-als)
• Conduct literature review in the field of education sciences
Your Profile:
• Native-level German (C2 or equivalent) and very good English skills
• Reliable availability for in-person data collection in early April
• Experience with video editing
• Experience with Moodle is an advantage, but not required
• Experience with children is a plus
