Working Groups Prof. Beate Stelzer - Section Space-based Astronomy & Experimental UV Astronomy

The Working Groups "Space-based Astronomy" and "Experimental UV-Astronomy" are led by Prof. Beate Stelzer.

The Working Group "Space-based Astronomy" deals with multi-wavelength observations aiming at understanding the formation and evolution of cool stars.

Special research interests are:

• magnetic activity at the cool end of the main-sequence, including brown dwarfs
• protostellar disks and mass accretion in young stars and brown dwarfs
• binary stars composed of white dwarf and main-sequence star

Observations are carried out with a variety of telescopes both on the ground (e.g. ESO/VLT) and in space (e.g. XMM-Newton, Chandra, Kepler).
