Dr. Luzia Sievi

Competence Center for Sustainable Development

Luzia Sievi studied Political Science, Modern and Contemporary History, and Economic Policy at the University of Freiburg, where she received her PhD in Political Theory. From 2017 to 2024, she worked at the IZEW as a research associate in various projects (PODESTA, Führungsethik, PREVENT). Since 2024, she has been co-coordinator and co-managing director at the Competence Center for Sustainable Development.

Career

Luzia Sievi studied Political Science, Modern and Contemporary History and Economic Policy at the University of Freiburg. After graduating, she worked as a project assistant at the University of Freiburg and the PH Weingarten in the areas of gender mainstreaming and quality management. Subsequently, she completed her doctorate at the Chair of Political Theory in Freiburg under Prof. Dr. Gisela Riescher. In her doctoral thesis "Demokratie ohne Grund - Kein Grund für Demokratie?" she explores the relationship between democracy and poststructuralism. From October 2016 to February 2018, she taught as a research associate at the Chair of Political Theory and History of Ideas (Prof. Dr. Walter Reese-Schäfer) at the University of Göttingen. From 2017 to 2021, she worked at the IZEW as a research associate on the PODESTA project, which focuses on populism and democracy in the city. In 2021 she taught and worked in the project "Leadership Ethics as Ethics in the Sciences". From 2022 to 2024, she conducted research on disinformation campaigns in the PREVENT project . Since October 2024, she has been a co-coordinator and co-managing director at the Competence Center for Sustainable Development.
