Recommendation letters, reference letters
Please send your requests for letters of recommendation to the administration's office by email. It is not necessary to make an appointment for a consultation.
Letters of recommendation will only be issued if the student has completed a course at the chair and has performed sufficiently well - not only in the courses of the chair.
The following documents must be submitted in full when requesting recommendation letters:
Current original transcript from the examination office
Previous grade point average
Curriculum vitae
A photo for personal identification
Letter of motivation (only if available anyway)
Precise information on the form of the report (form, addressee, address, form of submission, deadline, language of the report, course of study, etc.)
Please note that all documents must be complete and submitted at least three weeks before the relevant submission deadline. Otherwise, no reference letters can be issued.
FAQ
Q: "Does the report/letter of reference apply only to the academic achievements performed at the department and if so can I choose to which it applies?" A: No, the reference letter refers to all academic achievements documented in the transcript with special consideration of all achievments at our department and including the c.v. and other known information.
Q: "Is it possible to obtain a copy of the reference letter or the classification made in it?" A: No, the content of the report is generally confidential and is not communicated.
Notes on the recognition of academic achievements
Before starting your stay abroad, please refer to the relevant information provided by the Examination Office here.
It is highly recommended to confirm the credibility of courses to be taken abroad in advance of your stay abroad. In order to do so, please send the following information to the administration´s office of our department:
Outline, description and other documents on the content, type of examination, and time frame of the course
Information on how or in which field the course shall be credited
On your return please submit the following documents to the adminsitration´s office for credit:
Pre-filled form from the Central Examination Office if applicable
Information on how or in which field the course should be credited
Proof of performance
Outline, description and other documents on the content, type of examination, and time frame of the course
Alternatively, a printout of the email in which the chair has confirmed in advance that the course is likely to be credited
The possibility of receiving credits for academic achievements can only be examined if all the above-mentioned documents have been submitted completely. You will be notified when the request for recognition has been processed and the documents can be returned.
