In research and teaching we focus on the connection between linguistic modelling and computational linguistic analysis and application.
Specific topics we work on are constraint-based grammar implementation (particularly in the HPSG framework), intelligent web-based tutoring systems in the field of Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning (ICALL), and research into corpus annotation schemes for learner corpora.
Our teaching in the International Studies in Computational Linguistics (ISCL) incorporates current research and applications on the basis of a broad foundation in computational linguistics and its important links to linguistic analysis.
