The interdisciplinary research group ‘Sacred Texts’ is focused on researching the complex processes of texts as they are being sacralized and desacralized by means of use. We are particularly interested in exploring the functions of texts to which authority and normativity are applied, in processes of self-understanding by individuals and social formations. We analyze these functions systematically in an intercultural and interreligious perspective in order to avoid problematic transferals of intraculturally and intrareligiously acquired concepts onto other contexts.
This interdisciplinary research group is funded by the Explorations Funds of the university (Platform 4) as well as the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.
