Self-organization of neuronal networks

Neuronal constraints and self-organization

Subproject: Neuronal energetics

As any living structure, neurons require energy to process and transmit electrochemical signals. We investigate how interactions between energy availability and neuronal dynamics influences excitability and the associated neuronal response. As energetics is especially critical in neuronal disorders, we analyze the role of metabolic failure in epileptiform activity and Parkinson disease.
