Dr. Florian Wimmers receives million-euro funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) to establish a junior research group

Tracking down the lack of infection control for cancer patients

In order to investigate the immunological causes of the often insufficient vaccination protection against infections in cancer patients, the DFG is funding Dr. Florian Wimmers as part of the Emmy Noether Program. The approximately two million euros in funding for a period of six years will be used to establish a junior research group at the Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Tübingen. Dr. Wimmers' group will pay particular attention to covid-19 and influenza infections. The research group will use state-of-the-art research methods, such as those from the fields of artificial intelligence, to investigate the causes.
