Gefühlswissen – Emotional Lexicons

Emotion, feeling, mood, sentiment, passion: The list of words for emotional states is not only long but also demonstrates the spectrum of possibilities for understanding what emotions are. These understandings also shift in the course of time or vary between languages. This volume represents a collaboration of authors who studied the articles on an array of emotion terms found in dictionaries and encyclopedias in German, English, and French from the 17th to the 21st centuries. An English translation will appear with Oxford University Press in early 2014.
