Markus Hitz has been Professor of Financial Accounting & Financial Analysis at Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen since November 2022.
Markus Hitz studied business administration in Munich and Birmingham. He received his doctorate from the University of Cologne in 2005 and habilitated there in 2009. From September 2009 to October 2022, he held the Chair of Accounting and Auditing at Georg August University in Göttingen.
He has also held visiting professorships at Tilburg University, Macquarie University Sydney, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Markus Hitz's research focuses on the economic effects of corporate disclosure regulation and corporate governance. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Accounting & Economics, the Journal of Accounting Research, the European Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and Abacus. He is a reviewer for numerous academic journals and institutions such as the DFG and SNF. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Accounting and Business Research.
