School Cooperation Network in Tübingen

School and Science – Together at the Educational Hub Tübingen

What is the School Cooperation Network?

Educational research and educational practice – hand in hand. In Tübingen, numerous university and non-university partners in the field of education work together with educational practitioners in school cooperation projects. The School Cooperation Network brings together these cooperation projects and transfer projects between academic and school partners.

The aim: a cooperation between academic and school partners,

  • which is reliable and quality-compliant;
  • and further develops in the long term.

Our guidelines

For the school cooperation network in Tübingen

Quality criteria

(minimum standards) in the design of the respective cooperative relationships and activities with the school partners within the framework of the school cooperation network

  • Close consultation with the contact persons at the schools is a prerequisite in order to enable bidirectional, reliable and trusting cooperations and transfer relationships on an equal footing.
  • When developing and implementing research, transfer and cooperation projects, the framework conditions, goals and tasks of school practice are always taken into account. In the case of basic research, the relevance and benefits for school practitioners are made explicit.
  • The preparation and implementation of research projects by doctoral students is closely monitored by their supervisors (e.g. the preparation of documents for the approvals to be obtained, cover letters for participating persons, etc.). The supervisors ensure the quality of these documents.
  • The guidelines of good scientific practice of the University of Tübingen and the safeguarding of good research with regard to ethical and data protection aspects will be adhered to.

For research and development projects in schools, this means in particular:

Before conducting research projects

Prior to conducting any research projects (including, but not limited to, quantitative and qualitative studies, as well as classroom and school development projects and implementation projects)

  • all participating individuals (school administrators, teachers, school social workers, students, legal guardians, and other groups) are fully informed about the purpose, content, and scope of the research project, and their consent to participate in the study is obtained (in accordance with the GDPR, e.g., informed consent, voluntary participation, right to withdraw participation and have data deleted, etc.);
  • close consultation takes place with the contact persons at schools;
  • for empirical studies and evaluations, a positive ethics approval is obtained from an ethics committee (e.g., the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Tübingen);
  • approval from the school authorities is obtained in accordance with their guidelines (if a single school participates, approval is sought from the respective school administration; if multiple schools within the same regional council participate, approval is sought from the respective regional council; if multiple schools across different regional councils participate, approval is sought from the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs).

After completing research project

  • All participants will receive feedback on the findings and implications.
