The European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) is one of the most prestigious conferences in the field of computer vision. This year it takes place from October 25 to 27 in Tel-Aviv. On the second day of the conference, there were 3 awards for our cluster members.
Zeynep Akata received the European Computer Vision Association (ECVA) Young Researcher Award 2021. With the Young Researcher Award, ECVA recognizes and encourages outstanding research achievements of young researchers in Computer Vision. More information about Zeynep Akata on her website.
Gerard Pons-Moll was awarded the Best Paper Honorable Mention Award, along with 5 co-authors, for the paper "Pose-NDF: Modeling Human Pose Manifolds with Neural Distance Fields" (Co-authors: Garvita Tiwari, Dimitrije Antić, Jan Eric Lenssen, Nikolaos Sarafianos, Tony Tung). Pose-NDF is a continuous model for plausible human poses based on neural distance fields (NDFs). More information https://virtualhumans.mpi-inf.mpg.de/posendf/
Michael Black, along with 3 co-authors, has been awarded the Koenderink Prize for his work on the Sintel dataset (A naturalistic open source movie for optical flow evaluation. Daniel J. Butler, Jonas Wulff, Garrett B. Stanley, Michael J. Black). The Koenderink Prize recognises fundamental contributions in computer vision. It is awarded for a paper published ten years ago at the ECCV conference which has withstood the test of time. After 2010, this is the second time that Michael Black has received the award, a unique feature among award winners. Information on Sintel: https://perceiving-systems.blog/en/news/sintel-at-10-years
