The Program

This program offers students the unique opportunity to obtain a degree from the University of Nottingham and the University of Tübingen through studying at both institutions over the course of just two years. Students study in the

M.Sc. European Economics at the University of Tübingen and in the

M.Sc. in Environmental Leadership Management at the University of Nottingham.

Students of this double degree start their studies at the University of Nottingham and are required to pay (reduced) tuition fees to the University of Nottingham for their M.Sc. course. For more details please see the information on fees below.

Curriculum

The program requires students to earn 60 ECTS at each institution, amounting to a total of 120 ECTS. Students start their program at the University of Nottingham in September and complete their first year of the master degree over there. The second year of the program is spent in Tübingen and includes the completion of a co-supervised Master Thesis.

Master Program in Nottingham

Bachelor Degree Requirements

Bachelor Degree Certificate in Business Administration, Economics or related fields with a final grade of at least 2.5 or better according to the German grading system. (The final grades of international applicants will be converted into the German grading system and therefore also be subject to this rule).

 

  • A certificate stating that the applicant has successfully completed a first university degree or a certificate (or equivalent documents) providing evidence of the successful completion of at least the year prior to his/her final examination in the equivalent studies.
  • Degree should preferably amount to 180 ECTS.

Complete Transcript of Records with a final grade or calculated grade average. Transcripts of Records containing generic module titles (such as Business Administration I, II and III) should be accompanied by detailed module descriptions.

The transcript should prove that the applicant has solid intermediate knowledge in

  • Microeconomics,
  • Trade Theory and Policy,
  • Finance and
  • Quantitative Methods (Mathematics / Statistics / Econometrics)

 

 

Letter of Motivation

Please provide us with a letter of motivation explaining your reasons for applying for this degree and outlining your qualifications for it. Kindly limit yourself to one page, the letter may be composed either in English or in German.

 

Students should indicate their reasons for applying for the double degree program, their choice of partner university and their intended program of study.

Language Requirements

Please note! The University of Nottingham requires a valid (i.e. recent) IELTS of 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element) or an equivalent qualification. Your language certificate must  satisfy both the requirements of the University of Tübingen as listed below and the requirements of the University of Nottingham!

 

Proof of English Language Qualification

  • TOEFL ibt: 79 or
  • IELTS: 6.5 (overall band) or
  • Cambridge: CAE, CPE or BEC Higher or
  • German Abitur including at least 6 (G8) or 7 (G9) years of English or
  • Officially recognized higher education degree (e.g. Bachelor degree) with English as the language of instruction (you must provide a medium of instruction certificate unless the language of instruction is definitively stated on your transcript)

Student Fees
Tuition Fees to Tübingen: The program is free of tuition fees for all EU residents, students are only obliged to pay a small administrational fee and a contribution to the student union to matriculate.

Tuition Fees

Tuition Fees to Nottingham: 

Students are required to pay full tuition fees to the University of Nottingham. Please refer to the websites of the University of Nottingham for details on the current fees. International Students (non EU-students) pay the standard fee (International fee) to the University of Nottingham. The fees are payable in three instalments, the first one of which has to be paid in the week of your arrival in Nottingham. You will receive detailed information upon arrival.

If you eligible for Auslandsbafög a significant amount of the tuition fees can be covered through this.
