Vita

Martin Gebauer is Professor of Law (Chair of Private Law, Private International Law and Comparative Law) at the University of Tübingen (Germany). He is a part time judge at the Court of Appeals in Stuttgart and a board member of the German Society of Comparative Law (Speaker of the private law division). Before joining Tübingen Law School, he was Acting Professor at the Universities of Jena, Heidelberg and Frankfurt (Oder). He holds both German State Examinations and a Ph.D as well as a Habilitation in Law from the University of Heidelberg (Venia legendi in Private Law, Private International Law, Comparative Law, European Private Law, Law of Civil Procedure). He also served as a Joseph Story Research Fellow in Private International Law at Harvard Law School. His main research interests and publications focus on Private International Law, the European judicial cooperation in civil matters, Comparative Law.
