Narjes Bahreini is a PhD student in the research group "Diagnostics and Cognitive Neuropsychology." She completed her Bachelor of Theology at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, and her Master of Psychology at the University of Tehran, Iran. Besides working on her dissertation, she is also involved in teaching (experimental psychology and research seminars, co-advisor of final theses). She is interested in brain stimulation, being awarded the Travel Award from the Humboldt University of Berlin for her research proposal on “Induced number perception following Theta-burst stimulation over Angular gyrus.” This shaped her interest in the neural underpinning of numerical cognition. During her PhD, she is investigating the hemispheric lateralization of number processing considering the effect of handedness and reading direction in a cross cultural tDCS study. The goal of the project is to discover if the accepted leftward involvement of the parietal lobe in number processing is replicable across populations or if instead we are overgeneralizing the right handers/ left-to-right reading direction cultures’ neural network.
