Tobias Andersson is a research fellow funded by a postdoctoral grant (2026–2028) from the Swedish Research Council. His research project examines the relation between Ashʿarī theology and Shādhilī Sufism in Morocco from the ninth/fifteenth to the fourteenth/twentieth century. The project focuses on four major scholars affiliated with the Shādhilī order: Aḥmad Zarrūq (d. 899/1493), al-Ḥasan al-Yūsī (d. 1102/1691), Aḥmad b. ʿAjība (d. 1224/1809), and Muḥammad b. al-Ḥabīb (d. 1391/1972).
