Department of Biology Degree Programs

Thank you for your interest in a degree course in biology at the University of Tübingen. Before applying, please read the following important information.

Bachelor of Science Biology

  • Please take time to familiarize yourself with this degree program in advance. Details can be found here.
  • The teaching language for this program is German. To be admitted you must provide proof of German language proficiency (TestDaF 4444, alternatively DSH2).
  • Applications are only possible for the winter semester (starting October 1st). The closing date for application each year is July 15th.
  • If you have passed the German secondary school leaving examination (Abitur) you can, regardless of your nationality, apply for admission through the Central Student Administration Office. Information on application can be found here. The application portal is here.
  • If you have not passed the German secondary school leaving examination but are an EU citizen, you can apply for admission to the Central Student Administration Office. Information on application can be found here The application portal is here.
  • If you do not have a German secondary school leaving certificate and are not an EU citizen, then you must apply for admission to the Department of International Affairs. Information can be found here.

Master of Science (5 programs)

  • Please take time to familiarize yourself with these degree programs in advance. Details can be found here.
  • To be admitted you must provide proof of German language proficiency (TestDaF 4444/DSH2), in some cases TestDaf 3333/DSH1. Details to be found on the website of the respective program.
  • Applications can be submitted for the winter semester (starting October 1st), closing date for application July 15th, or in the case of "Cellular and Molecular Biology of Plants" also for the summer semester (starting April 1st) , closing date for application January 15th.
