Courses and Teaching Philosophy

Since summer semester 2004 I have been working as a lecturer. Until 2008, I taught at several German universities like the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main; the Universität Stuttgart, the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Free University Berlin. The years as an apprentice and wandering journeyman were very helpful to find out how different teaching is organized in different universities.

Since lecturing is an essential element of my task in colleges, I regularly attend advanced training seminars in didactics in order to develop the concrete skills which I employ in every day teaching activities (e.g. oral examinations, written exams, active learning with large groups of students, concepts of evaluation of my own teaching). I believe that the good evaluation ratings I got in the student evaluation last year can be attributed to these seminars. In autumn 2009, I completed the last module of the “Baden-Württemberg Zertifikat” (http://www.hdz-bawue.de/). This is comprised of 200 units of 45 minutes each.

The objective of my lectures is not only to provide participants with systematic knowledge on the different topics, but also to train their methodological skills, which can be implemented in different ways. When dealing with the main topics, I am in charge of presenting them through different interactive methods. Until now the methods I used during my courses were:
