Prof. Dr. Dr. Wiesing studied medicine, philosophy, sociology and the history of medicine. In 1993, he achieved his the venia legendi for the theory and history of medicine with the topic "Kunst oder Wissenschaft? Konzeptionen der Medizin in der Deutschen Romantik". Since 2002 he has been director of the Institute for Ethics and History of Medicine at the University of Tübingen.
