Dean of studies
In accordance with § 26 des Landeshochschulgesetzes (LHG), the Faculty has established a Study Commission for the proper implementation of studies and teaching in its various degree programs and for their further development. The Dean of Studies is the Chairperson of the Study Commission, who has also been assigned ongoing tasks in matters of teaching and studies on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities
With the support of the staff in the Dean of Studies Office, the Dean of Studies is responsible for the following tasks in particular:
- Student counseling
- certifications
- Examination of course requirements (e.g. doctoral studies)
- Recognition of study and examination achievements acquired abroad
- Carrying out and evaluating the evaluation of teaching and examinations
- Advice and recognition when changing degree programs and study locations
- Quality assurance funds (formerly: tuition fees)
- Further and new development of Catholic Theology degree programs
- Hardship regulations
In addition, the Dean of Studies acts as a complaints office for the students of the faculty - as expressly stated in Section 26 (5) of the LHG: “Students have the right to inform the responsible Dean of Studies of deficiencies in the implementation of teaching and study activities or non-compliance with the provisions of the study and examination regulations and to request that the complaint be discussed in the responsible study commission.”
