Institutskolloquium: Environmental Politics in the Trump Administration

After providing a historical overview of the foundations and evolution of U.S. environmental politics and policy, this talk will explore the current legal and political challenges to environmental governance including the specific policies of President Trump and the Republican Congress. Since any successful global environmental governance regime will require cooperative action by most countries, this talk will also explore the common and disparate legal and political challenges faced by the EU and the US to respond to climate change.

Denise Keele is <link https: wmich.edu politics directory keele external-link-new-window external link in new>Associate Professor of Political Science, jointly appointed with the Institute of the Environment & Sustainability, at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan USA. She received her Ph.D. in environmental and natural resources policy from University of Buffalo. Her research and teaching focus environmental policy and law, in particular the use of the courts to influence public policy. More recent publications include: (with R.W.
