Open Lecture: Critical Militarian Studies

Victoria Basham is <link http: www.cardiff.ac.uk people view external-link-new-window external link in new>Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the Cardiff University. After completing her PhD at the University of Bristol, she became the Visiting Fellow at the York Centre for International and Security Studies (YCISS) in Toronto and worked at the University of Exeter. She also serves as an Elected Member of the Executive Board of the European International Studies Association (EISA).

She has conducted research in the field of Critical Military Studies, exploring the influence of war on peaople's daily lives and vice versa, especially focusing on the aspects of gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and social class. Together with Sergio Catignani, she is currently working on a project called Sustaining Future Reserves 2020: Assessing Organisational Commitment in the Reserves.

Victoria Basham is co-founder and co-editor of the journal Critical Military Studies. She has published numerous articles in the field and her most recent publication is War, identity and the liberal state: everyday experiences of the goepolitical in the Armed Forces (Routledge, 2013).
