RIfS as detection system in electrophoresis

In electrophoreses numerous detection systems are available [1], whereas the determination of the refractive index is one possible label-free method. RIfS can not determine the refractive index, it moreover is able to observe an interaction with an analyte if a functionalized surface is used.

With such a detection system a biotin - streptavidin, a streptavidin - biotin and an antibody - antigen interaction was demonstrated under electrophoretic flow conditions.
