Elke Bidell
Elke Bidell has been the coordinator, director, and library construction officer of the newly established library at the Asia-Orient Institute (AOI) of the University of Tübingen since June 2016, overseeing the merger of six departmental libraries. Since 2013, she has also been the head of the Indology departmental library at the AOI. Previously, she served as the head librarian at the German-American Institute (d.a.i.) Tübingen from 2000 to 2013 and led the library of the Ludwig Uhland Institute for Empirical Cultural Studies at the University of Tübingen from 1994 to 1999. She studied library science at the University of Applied Sciences for Library Science in Stuttgart (now Stuttgart Media University) and graduated as a Diplom-Bibliothekarin in 1988. She is an active member of various professional library associations, including the Association for Information and Library (BIB) and the South Asia Libraries Working Group.
