Sebastian Gießler is a research associate at the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW). He completed his bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology and Sociology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. He holds an MA in Philosophy of Science from Leibniz University Hanover. Before joining the IZEW, he was a Researcher at AlgorithmWatch gGmbH, focusing on digital civil rights and the impact of technology on society. His research interests focus on the Ethics and Epistemology of Autonomous Systems, and how these systems impact scientific practices.
