Young researchers of the IZEW presented their work at the conference "Border Regimes, Territorial Discourses, and Feminist Politics" at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík from 22 to 24 May 2019.

The conference "Border Regimes, Territorial Discourses, and Feminist Politics" took place from 22 to 24 May 2019 at the University of Iceland at Reykjavík. Researchers presented feminist and postcolonial perspectives on concepts, theories, and ideas on current right-wing populist movements, migration, border and reproductive technologies, security, sexuality, and masculinity. Laura Schelenz and Kerstin Schopp spoke in the panels "Social Media: From Resilience to Resistance" and "Responses and Reconceptualizations." Laura analyzed the potential of the #MeToo movement for the resilience and empowerment of women who have experienced sexual violence. She focused on the opportunities and risks of Twitter as a digital technology for dealing with potentially traumatizing experiences. Kerstin spoke about her research on coping mechanisms of women after a resettlement experience in Ekondo Kondo, Cameroon. She presented a specially developed model that focuses on coping and adaptation processes in different key areas.
