At the earliest possible date, we are looking for the support of various research projects. The research projects cover a wide range of topics spanning from discourses on technology ethics, media ethics, privacy, debates on disaster management, questions of children's rights regarding the safety of children online, the analysis of (semi-)technical security practices to the interdisciplinary analysis of populist developments in representative democracies. We seek support with:
Research on current topics (in the beforementioned fields)
Transcribing interviews (we therefore strongly encourage native speakers to apply)
Word processing and text formatting
The organisation of events
Reference management
Ad hoc tasks (i.e. copying, scanning literature)
Students applying for the position are studying, e.g., at the Departments of Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Media studies, other social sciences or English/American Studies (Bachelors/Masters/Staatsexamen). We expect the ability to work in a team, communication skills and an inherent interest in ethical approaches. Basic knowledge in ethics is desirable, as well as the willingness to familiarize yourself with these topics. The work at the IZEW is primarily conducted in German, whereby basic knowledge in German or the willingness to deepen your knowledge of the language are an asset. We still encourage native speakers to apply. We are looking forward to receiving your application including a short cover letter and your CV – via e-mail – by 29th February 2024.
