Summary

Iron biogeochemical processes including microbial Fe(II) oxidation and Fe(III) reduction play a key role for the fate of many contaminants and nutrients in the environment. In this PhD project, the metabolic mechanisms of nitrate-reducing Fe(II)-oxidizing bacteria will be studied by applying innovative cultivation techniques (e.g. the application of laser tweezers), metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metaproteomics and stable-isotope labeling experiments
