Wiktionary Definitions

Since comprehensive sense definitions enhance the usability of GermaNet for a wide variety of NLP applications, sense definitions were added to GermaNet from the web-based dictionary Wiktionary. Wiktionary’s sense descriptions were automatically harvested from the February 2, 2011 Wiktionary data and mapped to corresponding lexical units in GermaNet. The ~29,550 automatic mappings have been manually verified and, in some cases, slight modifications to the Wiktionary sense descriptions have been made. For details about the mapping algorithm, please see this paper.
