Dr. Simon David Hirsbrunner

Simon Hirsbrunner conducts research at IZEW since December 2021. His former work stations include the Human-Centered Computing (HCC) research group at Freie Universität Berlin, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Wikimedia Deutschland e.V., the think tank adelphi, and the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EDA). He studied International Relations in Geneva (MA), as well as European Media Studies in Potsdam (MA) and received his PhD in Media Ethnography from the University of Siegen.

Simon Hirsbrunner has been committed as founding and board member of 'stsing - Science & Technology Studies in and through Germany', as co-speaker of the open science working group at the German Association for Media Studies (GfM), as stipendiary of the Goethe Institute and as an expert for various German governmental institutions (incl. German Federal Foreign Office (AA), Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Federal Ministry for the Environment, and Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ)).
