On the one hand, the subject area is dedicated to nature and the environment from an ethical, theoretical and historical perspective. On the other hand, it deals with the topic of sustainable development in a broader sense as a question of responsibility for present and future generations through the integration of ecological, economic, social and cultural aspects.

Competence Center for Sustainable Development

The Competence Center for Sustainable Development (KNE) is a university-wide networking platform, that brings together various activities and stakeholders at the University of Tübingen in the field of sustainable development. 

Studium Oecologicum

A teaching/learning course on sustainable development for students from all subject areas. The focus is on global and complex challenges such as the climate and biodiversity crisis, social injustice and resource scarcity.
