Mathematics Preparatory Course

for Students of Computer Science and Bioinformatics

The math prep course is recommended for all first-year Bachelor students taking up studies of the above mentioned courses in the summer term 2026. This prep course offers the opportunity to brush up your knowledge of math basics important for your studies and prepares you for the Mathematics II lecture in the summer term 2026. In addition, this course allows you to meet other students also beginning their studies.

The following topics are covered in the course:

  • Elementary arithmetic operations, such as solving equations and manipulating expressions involving absolute values, fractions, exponents, and roots.
  • Propositional logic
  • Set theory
  • Sigma and Pi notation for sums and products
  • Proof methods
  • Functions
  • Groups

The prep course will begin on Monday, 30.03.2026 and end on Thursday, 09.04.2026. There will be no classes on holidays or weekends (April 3–6); full-day sessions are scheduled for all other days.
